Financial planning

You want a financial plan that’s simple.

Because you’re unsure if you’re on the right path.

You might feel your financial future is unclear

We see you trying to make the right decisions.

What can you expect from us? Beginning with a no-pressure discovery meeting for us to get to know each other, we then hand craft a bespoke plan, carefully taking into consideration each aspect of your life so that you can spend your days how you want.

Conducting a thorough five step process, we are able to identify and capture your unique goals and dreams.

1. The Future

We take the time to get to really know you and gain a baseline understanding of your personal finances, investments, taxes and trusts.

2. The Discovery Experience™

We then take a look at your one to three year goals and create a plan to help you achieve them.

3. The Protection Analyzer™

We make sure to analyze anything that might be keeping you from moving forward and reaching your goals, and eliminate any unnecessary risk.

4. The Total Asset Optimizer™

When your assets are working together in harmony, you have a higher likelihood of achieving your financial goals, which is why we take care to help you balance your existing assets and to develop strategies to accumulate new ones.

5. The Enlightenment Navigator™

Life is not static and neither is your plan. An important aspect of achieving your plan is to continue to monitor it, measure it, and, when necessary, modify it.

We’re authentic, thoughtful, straight-shooters.

Just like your lawyer, we are fiduciaries who adopt a code of ethics to put you first. Ask us anything.

How do you get paid and what is the investment for this service?

We are fee for service, which means we are paid solely by our clients for the financial plan we provide rather than a commission or transaction fee from a third party.

Our financial planning fees are charged as a flat rate, which typically ranges from $3,000 to $10,000. Fees are based upon the complexity of the situation. We also offer annual retainer and subscription fees for comprehensive wealth management. We’re happy to discuss any and all solutions to provide you financial peace of mind.

Who will I deal with?

You will deal with a principal of our firm. That means, you’ll get immediate access to our knowledge, our time and answers to any concerns or questions you might have. Here’s who you won’t be dealing with: a Customer Service Rep d’jour on the other end of an 800#.

What types of clients do you work with?

We have developed a specialty of empowering widows and women with their financial and money decisions. Our clients typically have lots of moving parts in their financial life.

Do you meet with clients virtually?

Yes. We service clients throughout the nation by leveraging the power of technology for virtual meetings. Our clients find them very engaging and interactive. However, if you’re located in Massachusetts or the greater New England area, we can schedule a meeting at office—Cornerstone Cottage—in Kingston, MA. The Cornerstone Cottage is our unique office, check out a video tour of the space here.

What makes you different from a traditional firm?

Lots of people can manage your portfolio, but can they also help you create a “return on your life”? WH Cornerstone approaches financial advising differently. We serve as your financial coach to advise, implement, and continually manage all the moving parts of your life.

What do I need to prepare or bring with me to meet with you?

Before you meet with us, we typically have you fill out an online risk assessment. We’ll ask that you provide us with some personal and financial information. We will also provide you with our Future Advantage Questionnaire™ to help you prepare for the questions we will review together. You are welcome to bring your questions too. Our initial meetings are anything but ordinary. It’s a chance for us to get to know you, where you’ve been on your financial (and personal) journey and where you want to go.

I'm married. Does my spouse need to come to the meetings?

Yes. We like to meet with both spouses and have a relationship with both of you. Also, in order for you to have success in financial life planning we want to ensure that your goals, dreams and aspirations are aligned and that everyone is committed to the same future. As married business partners, we know first hand how important it is to have everyone on the same page.

What makes a successful financial planning relationship?

We love that you are thinking about this!

Here’s our version of an ideal financial planning relationship:

  • We believe every great relationship has give and take. And the very best relationships start as a team. We’ll ask you to do some homework before we meet so we’re all prepared to dig in.
  • At our meeting, we want you to be open and authentic about both your current financial situation and your dreams for the future.
  • Ideally, you’ll tell us your financial goals and snapshots of financial decisions that played a role in their past. But you’ll also dream big with us and give us the ideal future where your financial goals and your personal goals are totally aligned.
  • We are not able to read minds nor do we have a crystal ball so our best advice is based upon what information you share with us.
  • Pragmatically, timely communication and feedback is essential to assisting clients to move forward.
